About This Episode

The shift in recent years to prioritizing and chasing monthly recurring revenue over all other money-making methods has led to a bit of a stalemate in the industry. How do you stand out against the crowd if all you’re doing is offering the exact same services as every other MSP out there?

In this episode, Brian takes the lead as he presents a shift in mindset that will provide your MSP with an endless number of ways to create new avenues of generating revenue and greater value for your company.

2:00 – Tim asks Brian to dive right away into the ways he sees that MSPs can generate much more money. Brian gives a brief overview of the evolution of the industry as a way to illustrate how we’ve begun to come full circle back to consulting as a service.

3:53 – Brian and Robb discuss the different ways MSPs can create value. Brian delivers stats from Jay McBain of Forrester showing the predicted growth of the IT industry and the share that will come to MSPs.

8:41 – Brian provides further explanation about what he means by partner-assisted dollars, outlining some different strategies MSPs can use to create revenue streams.

11:05 – Robb asks Brian to explain who in the organization provides these services. Brian breaks down the concept of the Office of the vCIO, highlighting the different areas of support and providing examples.

14:50 – Robb asks Brian how MSPs can implement the idea of the Office of the vCIO. Brian shares how MSPs can better leverage QBRs and other meetings as the place to emerge as leaders for their clients.

20:18 – Brian moves beyond security and compliance as areas of leadership and explores automation, sharing how MSPs can discover and create new “as a service” offerings based on their customers’ needs.
